Hello,
We wanted to update you on our Email Spam Solutions. It has been brought to our attention that a few clients were having massive Spam issues. We have taken many steps over the past few days to limit Spam in the most efficient and affective manner possible. Below we will describe what is currently in place, what is in the works and other solutions we can offer.
Current Statistics
Blue Oryx has incorporated Spam Assassin and Spamdyke to combat spam at this time.
Spam Assassin is administrated at the user level, through the Plesk Control panel, and can be used to adjust Thresholds and instate white and black listing. This tool is affective if updated regularly but as we all know, this can be very time consuming for you. Because of that we have added Spamdyke at the Server level.
Spamdyke uses Black Hole lists (RBLs) from major list management organizations. These lists are not 100% accurate or affective but they are very close. To read more about how these organizations manage their lists, see http://www.sorbs.net or http://www.spamhaus.org. For a list of all of Spamdyke’s features see http://www.spamdyke.org/. Spamdyke catches emails at the server level so they never make it to you mailbox or PDA.
What is in the Works
We are also looking into the many benefits of Message Sniffer. This can be added as a plugin to Spam Assassin to help further control spam. This application, supposedly, will allow for extra thresholds to be added to more accurately define and control spam. We will install and apply this feature in February on our live servers for everyone to test. If we find this to be beneficial and practical we will permanently add this utility to our servers.

Additional Services
Spam & Virus Protection
Blue Oryx is also offering fully managed email services. These services can start at $50 dollars per month plus $2 dollars per email address. This service is the only way to affectively prevent up to 99% of spam, phishing scams, viruses and other internet pollution from impacting client operations. The managed service requires no additional hardware or software and no changes to the user’s network, making it ideal for companies with relatively low IT staff and budget resources. A simple MX record change is all that is needed and we will do that for you at no charge. For more information, please contact us
